PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa Tbk signed a memorandum with the Paser government to use RDF from municipal waste as an alternative fuel in its cement operations in Indonesia.

The agreement was signed in Jakarta on 12 February 2026, according to CemNet. The source identifies Indocement as part of Heidelberg Materials Group and places the agreement within waste management and industrial energy use.

Paser exceeds 121 t/day of municipal waste

The material base of the agreement is specific: Paser generated more than 121 t/day of waste in 2023, according to CemNet. For a kiln operator, that number matters less as gross tonnage than as a preparation question: moisture, particle size, chlorine, calorific value and supply stability determine how much RDF can enter the system without penalising clinker.

RDF displaces fossil fuel only when the kiln can absorb variability. In the calciner, a fine and dry fraction helps sustain stable combustion; at the main burner, moisture, chlorine and ash change flame shape and clinker chemistry. Localised H₂/O₂ injection provides a faster reaction zone and oxygen available close to the fuel, which can improve burnout of heterogeneous streams when injection design, mixing with tertiary air and sulphur control allow it. The operating question is bounded: which RDF specification enters the kiln, at which process point and under what limit for chlorine, moisture and flame stability.
