Ramco Cement expects to raise installed capacity from 27.44Mta to 31.14Mta by 2027 and add 15MW of waste heat recovery in India, according to CemNet / ICR Newsroom.

Ramco Cement links capacity with 15MW WHR

According to CemNet / ICR Newsroom, Ramco Cement plans to reach 31.14Mta of installed capacity by 2027 through debottlenecking and brownfield expansion. The report names a second line at Kolimigundla and 15MW of waste heat recovery capacity.

That makes the expansion more than a volume story. WHR converts part of the heat leaving the kiln and process-gas system into internal electricity, reducing exposure to purchased power and higher fuel prices.

The 47% green-power share already affects costs

CemNet reports higher power and fuel costs during the period, partly offset by a green-power share of around 47%. The article does not separate how much of that power came from WHR, renewables or other sources.

The operating point matters because it sits beside fuel inflation, limestone tax pressure and lower average cement prices. In an integrated plant, thermal efficiency is a margin variable when it affects energy purchases and kiln stability.

In an integrated kiln, 15MW of WHR reduces auxiliary electricity demand, but it does not by itself change combustion kinetics inside the calciner or main burner. The H₂/O₂ lever works at a different point: it creates a more reactive flame zone and supplies local oxygen to improve the burn of coal, petcoke or AFR when moisture, calorific-value swings or sulphur limits constrain the mix. In a plant already reporting 47% green power and moving toward 31.14Mta, one KPI is not enough. Operators need to separate electricity recovered by WHR, kcal/kg cut in the pyroprocess, TSR that can be held without instability and the real effect on clinkerisation. KNERGY could study that boundary through mass and energy balances, injection point, flame profile and clinker-quality limits to answer which heat still escapes the system.

What Ramco Cement does not specify
